Hope For The Holidays

“[Hope For The Holidays] brings joy knowing that someone cares.” – Carol (Mentee’s Aunt/Guardian)

Hope For The Holidays mentee unwrapping gifts

We wrapped out 2017 with an incredible Hope For The Holidays where 42 families were adopted and given a little more joy and celebration for the festive season.  33 individuals and companies participated in this year’s program which resulted in 63 mentees being adopted and 152 individual family members all receiving a little something extra during the holiday season.

Thank you to all of our donors and supporters for making this holiday season extra bright for some of our hardest hit families!

Junior Mentors Take On The World!

Junior Mentors gather in the Walk With Sally office during their second committee meeting

Our Junior Mentor program is aimed at creating leaders and instilling a focus on the future for our older mentees aged 14-17. Through the program our 17 active Junior Mentors will be volunteering at Friendship Activities (like this weekend’s Fun at Mulligan’s), adding their perspective as speakers at our Mentor Trainings, participating in a give-back project and more! Former Mayor of Hermosa Beach and Advisory Board member, Carolyn Petty attended their second committee meeting to speak about leadership within the community and volunteerism.  Our Junior Mentors are excited about becoming leaders within the Walk With Sally community that has given so much to them!

 #BowlFor 28

It’s not too late to still get involved in this year’s Friendship Bowl!  With nearly $30,000 raised we are well on our way to supporting 28 NEW FRIENDSHIPS but we still need your help!  Honor a loved one who has been impacted by cancer, join Team Walk With Sally and Fundraise for a Friendship! Or go for the gold and create your own team to support a mentor/mentee match throughout their first year.  With big goals this year, we need everyone to come together so we can support 28 new kids through their first year with Walk With Sally.  Will you help us?

Thanks to the Friendship Bowl Walk With Sally changed the lives of these 5 kids. Help us change 28 more lives. Honor a loved one and start a team today.

For The Kids AND For You!

“What a moving night last night at the FTK Speaker Series.  There is so much we can learn from those around us. Hearing from everyone reminded me to never lose sight of my purpose. If you don’t stay driven, every day, life will get in the way of your goals.” – Kailyn, FTK Speaker Series attendee

Our For The Kids Social Club hosted a Speaker Series event featuring inspiring leaders and “mentors” in the community in honor of National Mentoring Month.  The result was $900 raised to support Walk With Sally and an impactful discussion with CEOs and Founders from such organizations as Live Boldly Coaching, My Prep’d Meals, Life Lab, The Cancer Warrior Foundation, CommonSpace Brewery, Live Yum Yum, The Yogi DR and of course, Walk With Sally.

If you’d like to get involved with FTK feel free to join us at the next mixer event, tonight at Alta House or email Autumn Haber for more information.
