Friendships and Families Ice Skating Together
On December 7th 140 members of the Walk With Sally community came together for ice skating, movies, and fun to celebrate the holidays!
The day began with an ice breaker where we got into groups and shared what we are most grateful for this year and our goals for 2020. After we got to know each other, we started skating out on the rink around the beautifully decorated tree. For many of our mentees, it was their first time on the ice, but they laced up their skates, took the hand of their mentor, and had a great time trying something new!
After we finished skating, we enjoyed a burrito lunch provided by Sharky’s Hollywood. We had all worked up quite an appetite from skating all morning!
Movie Time
Once everyone finished lunch, it was time to head to the theater for the second half of our holiday Friendship Activity. As they headed across L.A. Live, mentees received a bag of holiday goodies from Kilroy Realty filled with water color kits, coloring books, and holiday treats!
Once everyone arrived at Regal Cinemas, we started off with a Q&A session with 2 of our mentors who work in animation. Olney Atwell and Kamy Leach shared their experiences and career insights with our mentees, mentors, and their families and answered some behind-the-scenes questions about animated films.
Finally, it was time to settle in for our private screening of Frozen 2 filled with lots of laughs from the audience!
Overall, it was an amazing day filled with family, fun, and an incredible community filled with cheer to bring in the holiday season. We are so grateful for everyone in our program and this event was the perfect way to finish our 2019 together. Thank you so much to LA Live, the LA Kings, Regal Cinemas, Sharky’s, Kilroy Realty, and our volunteers for making this day so special.
