On September 10th we welcomed 12 mentors and mentees into our office for “Memories on Canvas” our 3rd Heart to Home session for 2017. Everyone was asked to paint a memory, object or color that reminds them of the person in their life who was impacted by cancer. Claudia and her mentee Camila were one of the pairs in attendance and have bonded over losing their mothers to cancer. Claudia painted a balloon “because whenever I was given a balloon my father and I would release it into the sky and it was our way of sending a message to my mother.” Our Heart to Home sessions are an important opportunity to create community and provide an opportunity for healing for our mentees and mentors. Thanks again to Drica Lobo for leading us through this fabulous day!
Businesses Doing More
On Thursday, September 21st we held our annual Because of You party, a private appreciation event for all of our sponsors from White Light White Night. It’s an important night for us to say thank you to all of the businesses and people who make WLWN a success. As another way for us to show our appreciation for those who go above and beyond, we are starting a regular blog piece about Businesses Giving Back. 1HLC 2017 – Lift With Us!
Will you accept the challenge? On Saturday, October 21st at 11:00 a.m. PDT the 8th Annual One Hour Long Cycle will take place across the world. People thought the U.S. and internationally will gather together at various gyms and studios to lift a kettlebell for one hour in a show of comraderie and support for this year’s charitable organization, Walk With Sally! The timing is perfect as it offers an opportunity during Breast Cancer Awareness month for us to honor all of those moms, sisters, grandmothers, women in our lives who have been impacted by breast cancer.
