Robert R. Sprague Foundation, because of YOUR willingness to Stand Up For A Friendship supporting a new Walk With Sally match through it’s first critical year, Amanda and Monserrat were matched!
So where are Amanda & Monse now?
Amanda and Monse have enjoyed a wonderful amount of bonding and growth over the last 6 months. They have attended Heart to Home, Walk With Sally’s art healing program, our Friendship Surf Day, and our activities with CPK making their own pizzas!
Amanda has learned to remind herself that silence is okay. It can often even develop a sense of comfort between a mentor and mentee. She shares, “I realize it will take time for Monse to open up to me, since she has a hard time doing that with her parents. I’ve begun to see how more and more, she does talk about her friends, her school and gets excited when we work with crafts.”
Monse’s father, Oscar, also shared, “I am very happy with her mentor. Monse didn’t want to talk with us about her mom’s cancer, but she is slowly more open to that now.”
