This past weekend our Mentors, Mentees and Junior Mentors got a chance to get together for our winter Friendship Activity at the Long Beach Aquarium. While there, we took the opportunity to chat with our mentees and find out who their favorite Superheroes are (in honor of Bowl-A-Thon, of course.) Here’s what they had to say…

Local Hero – Adrienne Slaughter
Adrienne Slaughter is a cancer survivor of 32 years after being diagnosed with Osteosarcoma at the young age of 14. In addition to being an avid tennis player, she is a phenomenal motivational speaker and has traveled the US speaking to large groups from the United Way to Coca-Cola headquarters. Adrienne was fortunate enough to beat cancer a second time after being diagnosed with breast cancer at stage 0. Thanks to her preventative double mastectomy, she is once again cancer-free. In her 25th year of being cancer-free she started the annual Adrienne’s Search for Children’s Cancer Cure event raising funds for kids’ cancer. We are so honored that Adrienne Slaughter has chosen Walk With Sally as this year’s beneficiary for her Search For Children’s Cancer Cure!
