In spirit of #givingtuesday, we wanted to highlight some great places to donate your clothes and used goodies as you prepare for the holiday season.
We always love when donors ask if we could use some of their gently used items, and sometimes we can. Other times, we recommend to check out the following:
- Dress for Success – This non-profit takes business clothes to empower women and aid them in gaining financial independence.
- Goodwill – No matter what you have, you can donate it to Goodwill, be it a pair of goggles, dated holiday decorations, trampoline, etc. Just don’t donate your goldfish.
- The Midnight Mission helps get homeless people off skid-row. They provide basic needs like clothing, hygienic items, food, and shelter in addition to sustainable solutions like counseling, education, and career training.
- St Vincent de Paul has their hand in almost every program you could think of from prisoner resettlement, housing, community centers, shelters and more.
As we will most likely receive quite a few new items as we go through December, it’s a good idea to not procrastinate Spring cleaning and give during the holidays. It keeps your home clean and organized, and makes the next trip to your donation center less of a trek. The items that we don’t use may be bright, shiny, and beneficial for others.
