Walk With Sally’s News & Updates – March 2019
Thanks for checking in on what Walk With Sally has been up to for the first three months of the year.
Youth Art Month
Program Spotlight: Heart to Home
Did you know that March is Youth Art Month? We wanted to jump in on the discussion happening across the nation about the impact of the arts on our youth and make sure you all know about our Heart to Home program.
Heart to Home is an art healing program designed to assist children who have been impacted by cancer. The group sessions utilize art to further cultivate sharing and to strengthen the connection between mentees and their mentors. Simply, engaging their creativity, this is another opportunity to support our friendships as a part of a larger community.
Just this past weekend, 18 mentors, mentees and family members came together to explore through clay in a workshop led by Britt Harrison.
Friendship Activity – Creating Community With Mychal’s Learning Place
Partnering with other charities and organizations is one facet of creating the community of support that makes Walk With Sally’s programs such a success. We take pride on being able to work together with other organizations that are also focused on the social impact. So, for our first Friendship Activity of the year, we partnered with our friends over at Mychal’s Learning Place. The day of fun included team building, cookie making, a photo booth, relay race, and of course, tons of memories. For an in depth look at our Friendship Activity click below.
(Dog Trainer Ben & his best friend Hetsie perform tricks for the crowd of mentors and mentees at our first Friendship Activity of the year.)
Friend-raising Success!
Friendship Bowl raises $130,000+
This year’s Friendship Bowl was another one for the record books as more than 30 teams and 100+ fundraisers came together to support 26 Friendships. We wanted to take a moment to recognize two groups who really stepped up this year, FTK Social Club and our very own Junior Mentors!
