Dezi was 10 years old when she joined the Walk With Sally program and was matched with her Mentor, Michele (now Walk With Sally’s Director of Development). Dezi’s mother passed away from stage 4 Breast Cancer shortly after Dezi’s first birthday. Robert, Dezi’s father enrolled Dezi in the Walk With Sally program after realizing that his daughter was growing older and needed a Mother/Female figure in her life.
Dezi was the first recipient of Fred’s Future- Young Leaders Scholarship, a program created to support our mentees when they graduate from high school. Dezi is now 20 years old and has joined the Walk With Sally program as a Summer intern, and we are absolutely thrilled to have her come back during her summer break from Humboldt University. We are so proud of her and we are so excited to have her be a big part of the program that helped her when she was younger.
