This holiday season Walk With Sally will share the magic of FOUR of our incredible friendships. On behalf of our families, we thank each and every one of you for continuing to support Walk With Sally.

Friendships that become family

JP, a 12-year-old watching his mother, Gilma, battle cancer since 2016, was struggling at school before signing up with Walk With Sally (WWS). He has an attention disorder, is hyperactive, and has difficulty engaging in conversations with strangers. Gilma endured twelve different surgeries, and she was having a tough time helping JP through her recovery.

WWS matched JP with Rachel, who understands the pain of cancer, losing her grandparents to lung cancer, and watching her aunt battle breast cancer.

In under a year, Gilma and Rachel have seen drastic improvements in JP. His school work has vastly improved, wanting to “not disappoint” his mentor. JP is also more comfortable with new people, can strike up a conversation, and even have a good time.

He is friendly and more confident after meeting Rachel and the WWS community.

Despite what is going on at home, JP enjoys new activities and the chance to be a kid. Because of you, Rachel has become more than just a mentor to JP… she is family.

Every day, your support makes friendships like JP and Rachel possible.
